Remake of the film “Day of the Jackal” (1973)
Tale
The Jackal is an elusive killer who earns his living by killing for the highest payment. Soon he meets his worthy rival in the face of a persistent British intelligence officer, who pursues him in an exciting cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The action of the novel “Day of the Jackal” takes place in 1963 and tells about the attempt on the then president of France, Charles de Gaulle. The series moves the action to the modern era.
I like what they asked to do
How does one manage to remain anonymous and untraceable in today’s world of surveillance cameras, camera phones and social networks, the Internet and facial recognition, monitoring of communications, digital transactions, etc. d. Etc. d. The attempt is not perfect, but please tell me a series or a film that succeeded, and I will immediately watch it.
There is something to like in each series
However, the central plot narrative is interrupted by the inclusion of the M16 agent’s family drama, which seems like a filler inserted to satisfy the formulaic “principle” of script writing. I skip these unnecessary walls so that the main plot develops at the right pace. I’m halfway through the fourth episode and the effort and intentions are overwhelming. Also, I like the neck scarf that refers to the original film and the updated information about the sniper rifle – until the age of 11, the disbelief that it passes X-ray control at the airport has stopped, not to mention the magical supersonic machine gun silencer and the impossibility of anyone use it.
don’t mention the bullets
the smell of a recently used firearm 🙂 Shhh… Still, it’s not perfect, but I’ll see it through, appreciate the effort, and be interested in the choices they make to tell a compelling story. And I’ll watch something with Charles Dance. Finding him in this was a bonus.
